Hello My Name Is.... Paul Smith

Whilst in London and having visited some exhibitions which didn't really inspire me that much I was able to visit an exhibition at the Design Museum.... Hello My Name is.. Paul Smith.  I found this visit so inspiring and to see how he was able to build up such a fantastic career even after dropping out of school makes me believe that there is hope for us all.  I was able to see the progression through his career and to actually stand in a replica of his first (tiny) store, a corridor full of images which made me feel like I had an insight into this genius's mind, a replica of his studio, and of course to see a selection of his garments so perfectly made (my favourite being a pair of his and hers grey check jackets with a slight hint of hot pink).  I found this exhibition so interesting because it wasn't just about the garments (in fact it hardly was at all) with little quirks such as a button wall, cardboard cut outs of Paul Smith himself so that you could have a 'Selfie' with him and a post it note on the way out reading 'Everyday is a new beginning' I felt like I got to know what seems like the career of a genuinely nice guy.  If anyone is in the area I would definitely recommend a visit to this exhibition, you will leave smiling.

Adventures in the City......London

After spending the end of last week in my capital and one of the worlds fashion capitals London I thought that I would share with you some of the things that I got up to.  Apart from getting drenched, wind swept and ending up with one very broken umbrella some of my favourite parts of the trip were, a very long visit to Harrods checking out all the designers collections as well as how they had displayed them (everything from Childrenswear to Womenswear) and of course a very exciting trip to the disney section and the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, a trip to Liberty where I saw a very inspiring display by one of my favourite minimalists Mason Martin Margiela of course (pictured below), a visit to the many fabric shops in the area where I was able to buy some amazing lilac neoprene from The Cloth House as well as some other gems and finally a very inspiring Paul Smith exhibition at the Design Museum.  Which I will dedicate its own post later on.

My New Obsession ....... Gossip Girl

A programme following Manhattan's elite filled with very well dressed (and lets not forget attractive) teenagers.  I don't now how I have missed out on this programme all these years but now that I have become well and truly hooked on it there will be no stopping until I have seen every last episode.  If you haven't seen it I would definitely recommend you give it a try, if not for the many plots and twists of the story lines then at least to admire the amazing clothes that are worn.
